On the basis of Ravindra Jadeja’s tremendous bowling and then Devon Conway’s third consecutive half-century, Chennai registered their fourth win by defeating Hyderabad by 7 wickets.

Sunrisers Hyderabad came on the field with the hope that the series of failure that has been going on at Chepauk for 10 years might end this time. Conway-Gaikwad decided victory

Chennai’s victory in this match was considered fixed only when captain Dhoni won the toss and chose bowling. The bowlers had done half the work. It was the turn of the batsmen. The in-form pair of Devon Conway and Rituraj Gaikwad (35) single-handedly did more than half the work to nullify any upset.

Some bad decisions in the bowling change of Hyderabad captain Aiden Markram, some bad bowling and then the strong batting of Conway-Gaikwad made Chennai score 87 runs in 11 overs.

Rituraj was definitely out here but Conway scored his third consecutive half-century. Leg-spinner Mayank Markandey dismissed Ajinkya Rahane and Ambati Rayudu but the match had slipped out of hand by then. Conway won the team in the 19th over on the basis of an unbeaten inning of 77 runs (12 fours, 1 six).
