The discussion of this year’s IPL is on everyone’s lips. There is no doubt that the T20 cricket league has become famous all over the world, the exact reason for which is the spectacular victories of its teams. More than one team is performing unmatched with each match, and with each match, they are giving one or the other topic of discussion to the audience. But there is one team apart from all these, which is different not only on the scoring table but also in the field. We are talking about Rajasthan Royals. Right from their first match, Rajasthan Royals have proved that they are determined to win T20s. The captain of this exceptional team, Sanju Samson holds his team together like a fist, inspiring his players to give their best and the brilliance of which is clearly visible on the field.
It is said that Samson is a leader who believes in making a decision. He has been a guide for his team. Samson never wavered in the belief of his team and always encouraged everyone. His leadership style has set an example, which is reflected in the victories and success of the team.
Be it senior players like Jos Buttler, Chahal and Ashwin, or junior players Kuldeep Sen and Sandeep Sharma, led by Samson, they all seem to be flourishing at the top of the scoring table as a leading team, Rajasthan. Samson always teaches his players to be confident, and assures that he is with them at all times. Along with his formidable skills, he has mastered both batting and bowling.
In their match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, the Rajasthan Royals team created magic with the bat, scoring the sixth-highest number of runs in power play overs in IPL history. Chahal took 4 wickets for 17 runs in the match and became the first Indian bowler to take 300 wickets. Speaking in an interview ahead of the game against Chennai Super Kings, Chahal lauded Samson’s role in keeping the team’s morale high at all times, giving his best, staying calm and keeping the team together.
In a match that went in CSK’s favor with the batting of MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja in the final overs, Samson turned the match in a way no one expected. Sandeep Sharma was chosen to bowl the final over over Kuldeep Sen, to bolster Chennai Super Kings’ runs. Needing 40 runs in two overs, 19 runs were scored in the 19th over and the first two balls of the 20th over were wides. Chennai Super Kings needed seven runs in the last three balls, but Sandeep Sharma did not allow the front team to win the last three balls by putting yorkers and brought the lost match to Rajasthan Royals. The win was particularly notable as it marked the first time in over a decade that the Rajasthan Royals had won a match at Chepauk.
Samson has revealed that he has the knack of making better decisions on and off the field, as he is well aware of his players’ strengths and at the same time plays an effective role in overcoming their shortcomings. It will be exciting to see what magic Samson creates on the field in the coming times as both a captain and a player. Rajasthan Royals will play against defending champions Gujarat Titans on Sunday, April 16 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Royals will continue to look to maintain their winning streak and stay on top of the points table with another win.
