Bengaluru: 1450 days later at M Chinnaswamy Stadium Royal Challengers Bangalore Virat Kohli, who returned as captain, met a fate that had never happened before in T20 cricket. In the match against Rajasthan Royals, Bangalore’s star batsman Kohli was dismissed on the very first ball of the match. That too without opening an account. Kohli was hunted by Rajasthan’s legendary fast bowler Trent Boult, who was successful in dismissing Kohli for the first time in T20 cricket.

Virat Kohli, who was looking in good rhythm in the IPL 2023 season, had made a strong start in almost every innings so far. In such a situation, a good start was expected from him in another match. However, looking at the kind of form in which Trent Boult is running, this threat was constantly there. Still, Kohli had the best record against Bolt. This record finally got a little spoiled.

After losing the toss, Bangalore came out to bat first and as usual Kohli was on strike. Left-arm pacer Bolt started the bowling from the other end. On the very first ball, Bolt silenced the entire Chinnaswamy noise. An excellent inswing from Boult fell on the line of stumps and Kohli tried to flick it but the ball came inside and hit his pads straight.

The umpire had no problem in giving it out and Kohli also thought it better not to take DRS. In this way, for the first time in his T20 career, Bolt made Kohli his victim.

Kohli’s wicket was not special for Boult just because he got him out for the first time. Rather it was also special because with this he also completed his 100 wickets in IPL. Also, in the IPL, he took the 21st wicket in the first over. By the way, Bolt did not stop here, he also took the wicket of Shahbaz Ahmed in the very next over and increased the difficulties of Bangalore.
