Mohali: The IPL 2023 season has seen some tremendous innings, where teams easily touched the figure of more than 200 runs. Mohali I also saw a similar scene on Friday evening, where the batsmen of Lucknow Super Giants thrashed the bowlers in such a way that it became the biggest score of this season. Not only this season, but after 10 years, he could cross the 250-run mark in the IPL and scored the second highest score in the tournament.

Batting first against Punjab Kings, Kyle Meyers started the attack for Lucknow and got out after hitting a subversive half-century inside the powerplay. Captain KL Rahul was dismissed early but Meyers, who came to open with him, hit 54 runs in just 24 balls. This was his fourth half-century in this season. At the same time, Ayush Badoni also played an excellent innings.

Foundation prepared in 10 overs only

Lucknow gave away 128 runs in the first 10 overs. After such a start, the possibilities of reaching the big score of Punjab were clearly visible. Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran proved it right by continuing the same style. Both hit 76 runs in just 30 balls and took the team to 239 runs, which is the biggest score of this season. Earlier, Chennai Super Kings had scored 235 runs.

With the fours of Deepak Hooda in the 20th over, Lucknow touched the figure of 250. This was only the second time in the history of 16 seasons of IPL when a team touched the figure of 250 runs.

RCB’s score survived by 7 runs

Lucknow finally scored 257 runs losing 5 wickets, which is the second highest score in IPL. In this innings, Lucknow hit 27 fours and 14 sixes. Chennai’s record was broken by this but only 7 runs remained away from breaking Royal Challengers Bangalore’s record. The special thing is that only 10 years after Bangalore’s score, Lucknow did this feat. Earlier, on 23 April 2013, Bangalore scored 263 runs against Sahara Pune Warriors, which is still a record.
