Mumbai: Rohit Sharma’s birthday and the 1000th match of IPL reached its conclusion in a thrilling way, in which Mumbai Indians defeated Rajasthan Royals by 6 wickets. Yashswi Jaiswal Rajasthan Royals had scored a big score of 212 runs with the best century. Tim David took the team to this target by hitting consecutive sixes in the first three balls of the last over.

Never before had a target of more than 200 been achieved at the Wankhede Stadium. In such a situation, something special had to happen in the 1000th match and Tim David did it for his team. Mumbai needed 17 runs in the last over but Jason Holder bowled three consecutive full tosses and David hit all three for sixes to give Mumbai their fourth win. Also, Mumbai ended the series of 2 consecutive defeats.

Rohit’s birthday was spoiled

The kind of start of Mumbai’s innings, no fan sitting in the Wankhede Stadium would have expected or desired. Birthday boy and Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma was bowled by Sandeep Sharma in the second over. However, Cameron Green, the new batsman who came to the crease, showered runs from the beginning and Mumbai scored 58 runs in the powerplay.

From here, however, his speed decreased and its effect was seen in the form of a wicket. Ravichandran Ashwin first trapped Ishan Kishan (28) and then Green (44). However, Suryakumar Yadav started with a six off the very first ball. The vice-captain of Mumbai, who has returned to his colors, then talked continuously in the boundaries and completed the half-century in just 24 balls.

Tim David’s super finish

150 runs were completed in the 15th over and the pair of Surya-Tilak Verma was moving forward strongly. Then in the 16th over, Sandeep Sharma ended the explosive innings of Surya (55) by taking a sensational catch. This gave the upper hand to Rajasthan. Then Mumbai’s Tim David, worth Rs 8.25 crore, showed his mettle. David shared an unbeaten 62-run partnership in 23 balls with Tilak Verma (29). David hit 45 runs (2 fours, 5 sixes) in just 14 balls.

Successful debut with sixes

Before the strong innings of Suryakumar Yadav, the young star of Mumbai was seen in the Wankhede Stadium. The only difference was that he was showing his magic for Rajasthan Royals. Rajasthan’s innings was only in the name of 21-year-old young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. Jaiswal played the best innings of his IPL career and scored a strong century.

In a match where experienced and explosive batsmen like Jos Buttler (18), Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer could not make any impact, Yashasvi wreaked havoc. In the first over, he hit Cameron Green for a six and then in the very next over, Jofra Archer was also sent for a sixer. Wickets kept falling from one side and successful runs kept pouring in from the other side.

First century in Wankhede

Yashasvi completed his half-century in the first 32 balls and then completed his first IPL century in the 18th over with a four. This was the third century in total in this season. He scored this century in 53 balls. He was dismissed in the last over after scoring 124 runs in 62 balls. After him, the second highest 25 runs for Rajasthan came as extras. Arshad Khan (3/39) was the most successful for Mumbai.
