New Delhi: Before the IPL 2023 season and between the tournament, many big players have been ruled out of the tournament due to injury. The latest name in this is that of Lucknow Super Giants captain and star batsman KL Rahul. Rahul has been ruled out of the tournament due to a thigh injury. Lucknow has now signed a new player in his place, who is Rahul’s friend. Karun Nair has got a chance in place of Rahul.

On 1 May, Rahul suffered a thigh injury while fielding during the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Because of this, he could not play in the next match as well. Now on Friday, Rahul himself issued a statement saying that he is out of IPL. Krunal Pandya was made the captain of the team in place of Rahul.

Now in place of Rahul, Lucknow has signed his own friend Karun Nair of Karnataka cricket as a replacement player. Karun Nair has been signed at a base price of Rs 50 lakhs. Nair was a part of Kolkata Knight Riders last season but this time he was not bought by any team.

Last year itself, Nair did it in an emotional tweet, in which it was written- ‘Dear Cricket, give me one more chance’. Nair, who hasn’t played a cricket match since August last year, has finally got his appeal and has got another chance.

The 31-year-old Nair has played a total of 76 matches for 4 teams in the IPL so far. He was part of Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata. His name is 1496 runs. Last season, he got opportunities to play 3 matches for KKR but he could only score 16 runs.

Nair is best remembered for his triple century. Nair, who made his Test debut for the Indian team in 2016, scored 303 against England in his third match itself. He was only the second Indian batsman to score a triple century in Tests. Although he could play only 6 matches for India. He played his last Test in 2017, after which he did not return.
