Kolkata:There is a danger of Moka storm in the Bay of Bengal these days, but a different storm came in Bengal on Thursday evening. Such a storm in which there was no loss of life or property, but records were definitely destroyed. In IPL 2023, the stormy innings of Rajasthan Royals’ young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal at Eden Gardens, the home ground of Kolkata Knight Riders, showed off. Jaiswal scored the fastest half-century in IPL history, on the basis of which Rajasthan defeated Kolkata by 9 wickets.
The evening of Thursday 11th May at Eden Gardens completely belonged to the Rajasthan Royals. Firstly, Yuzvendra Chahal and Trent Boult restricted Kolkata to a modest score of 149 runs. After this, the explosion of Yashasvi Jaiswal destroyed the bowling of Kolkata. The young opener of just 22 years played the most explosive innings of IPL 2023 and gave the team an easy win.
Jaiswal’s storm started as soon as it arrived
To prevent Rajasthan from reaching 150 runs, Kolkata needed to do something special in bowling and fielding. In fielding, the team succeeded in running out Jos Buttler in the very second over, but before and after that his condition was bad. Yashasvi Jaiswal hit Kolkata captain Nitish Rana for 26 runs in the very first over.
Jaiswal’s attack continued even after this and he hit a half-century in just 13 balls while raining boundaries. It also became the fastest fifty in IPL history. He broke the record of KL Rahul (14 balls). His half-century was completed on the fifth ball of the third over itself.
