Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar on Thursday filed a criminal complaint with the Cyber Cell of the Mumbai Crime Branch, alleging that several fake advertisements are being circulated on the internet using his photographs and people are being canvassed by them. Being misled about the products being sold. Tendulkar’s personal assistant registered the case before Additional Crime Commissioner Shashi Kumar Meena.
According to the FIR, Tendulkar’s personal secretary received an advertisement on Facebook on May 5. Tendulkar’s picture was being used in it and it was written that the product was recommended by Sachin Tendulkar. Similar ads were also found on Instagram.
The complainant also found that a website was selling fat melting spray using Tendulkar’s name and claiming that the product was recommended by him. The product also claimed that the buyer would get a T-shirt signed by Tendulkar for free.
The FIR states that Tendulkar is not endorsing any such product and his photographs and voice are being misused to deceive people.
The Cyber Cell of West Zone is probing the matter. A case has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including cheating and forgery and relevant sections of the IT Act.
